Our calendar for 2022 is:
February 2nd at 2pm via Zoom - Ruby Stevens will talk on floral traits in Australian plant communities & her citizen science project on rare & endangered species. Watch the video at https://youtu.be/RsN5-GnLxFs
March Fri 4th via Zoom, as our planned garden visits were washed out. A presentation on one of the gardens and a discussion about propagation
April Wed 6th from 12:30 pm - South Maroubra Dunes Picnic at Malabar and a bush walk along the Malabar Headland NP. Postponed due to bad weather.
May Wed 4th from 10:30 am - visit to our beloved Sylvan Grove Native Garden. This was the official launch for our new name & a time to reminiscence about the East Hills Group. This was the ceremonial planting day to celebrate the lives & passing of senior APS members - Kyrill Taylor, Graham and Margaret Walters and Hugh Stacey.
Sunday 5th June, 10.30 am: Meet at the Calyx in the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney (entry by donation). View the current exhibition - Inside the Tide; possibility of a tour with an RBG volunteer guide; lunch outdoors or maybe in Maiden Pavilion on Band Lawn or Palace Rose Garden Pavilion if raining.

Sunday 3rd July, 10.30 am: PUB (Patches of Urban Bush) crawl along the GreenWay. See examples of Inner West Environment Group (IWEG) Bushcare program along the light rail line, Dulwich Hill to Hawthorne. Walk sections, hop on, hop off the light rail - lots of coffee shops for refreshments. Meeting place, parking to be finalised.
Wednesday 3rd August, 12.30 pm: Re-schedule of the program cancelled in April – picnic lunch at reserve in South Maroubra, tour of dune rehabilitation with Randwick Bushcare officer (to be confirmed), optional Malabar Headland walk.
Sunday 4th September, 10 am: Visit Sylvan Grove, Picnic Point when orchids are flowering; guided tour with Jim Mackay, head gardener.
NB 10-16 September - ANPSA Conference in Kiama (book soon for early birds’ discount)
Saturday 8th October, 10 am: Re-schedule of garden visits – Marie O’Connor’s in Connells Point with talk on orchids by Graeme Davies of Menai Wildflower Group (to be confirmed) and Graham Fry’s and Liz Cameron’s in Hurstville Grove; propagation discussion, plant sale. Picnic lunch afterwards.
Wednesday 2nd November, 7 pm: Members’ Night, indoor venue – bring evening meal, short talks by members, demonstration of propagation techniques; CECAL venue to be confirmed.
December – Christmas Party and AGM – date, time and venue to be confirmed (possibly The Castle in Oatley Park).
