Description

Viola betonicifolia (clumping) Common name: Arrowhead violet, Showy violet or Mountain violet Family: Violaceae Location: Eastern Australia from Tasmania to Queensland and India and Pakistan. Grows in shaded forests and coastal swamps. Flower colour: Bright purple, pale purple to violet. Flowers: September to February Soil: Adaptable to most Drainage: Grows in damp areas. Exposure: Half to full shade. Cover: Height 30cm x width 30cm. Rosette of dark green leaves. Water: Keep moist. Danger: Can be quite vigorous in heavier, moisture retentive soils Fruit: Small pale brown pods with tiny blackish seeds. Uses: Small perennial. Ideal for rockeries.
