Botanical name: Solanum aviculare Common name: Kangaroo Apple Family: Solanaceae Type: Large shrub Size: Up to 4m high x 5m wide Naturally occurring: NSW, Queensland, Victoria, SA, WA Flowers: Purple flowers to 3-4cm diameter Flowering period: Spring - Summer Soil/drainage: All soils and aspects. Prefers dry situation. Sun Exposure: Full sun Other features: Very hardy. Fast growing. Excellent screen plant. Fruits are egg-shaped, orange or red, to 3cm long. All parts of the plant contain poisonous alkaloids, especially unripe fruit. Attracts birds, bees and other insects.
