Botanical name: Callistemon citrinus
Common name: Crimson Bottlebrush
Family: Myrtaceae
Type: Shrub
Size: 1-3 metres high, can be pruned.
Naturally occurring: Central Coast and elsewhere in eastern NSW, Victoria, Queensland
Flowers: Bright red, or occasionally purple – red.
Flowering period: Late Spring, Summer, and Autumn
Soil/drainage: Hardy, but prefers moist soils. Can tolerate boggy ground.
Sun Exposure: Full sun (for best flowering) or light shade
Other features: Prune after flowering to improve flowering next year.
