Northern Beaches - Walk: Turimetta Headland

  • 18 Jun 2022
  • 10:30 AM
  • off Narrabeen Park Pde, Warriewood

Penny Hunstead will lead the group's monthly walk, which has been changed from the planned Chiltern Track.

Turimetta Headland has been chosen due to the degraded surface of Chiltern since the recent rains. Penny considered it a hazardous walk. She checked out three other walks and rejected them for either poor surface or lack of flowering species. The Turimetta walk takes about three quarters of an hour and involves quite a number of easy grade steps. There are spectacular sea views and although not many species are in flower, there  are plant communities which include threatened species and an unusual little forest. Although it is a short walk, there are several places to stop and look at the views, up and down the coast. Also, after coming up the steps there will be time to take a short rest.

The weather forecast for the week is for sunny days…up to Saturday! Rain is predicted, but for later in the day, so we may have fine weather for the walk.

Meet at the northern entrance of the walk. Parking in Narrabeen Park Pde, close by.

Lunch afterwards at Oceans, cnr Malcolm and Ocean Sts, 5 min drive from Turimetta Headland.  Large free public car park opposite.
