Penny Hunstead has again carefully planned the group's monthly walk.
The walk to the lookout is level for most of the way, through Eucalyptus haemastoma and Corymbia gummifera woodland, with a couple of small rough surface slopes. It is about 350 metres long and takes about 20 minutes or so, with stops for flower photography, etc. From the lookout, with its panoramic views, there is a much longer track down into the valley to the Natural Bridge. Some people could go down this track to look at other plant species, but it is a long steep walk down to Bantry Bay.
On a very recent reconnoitre of the walk Penny found Acacia longifolia, A. mytifolia, A. ulicifolia, Banksia serrulata, B. spinulosa, Boronia ledifolia, Bossiaea scolopendria, Hibbertia riparia, Leucopogon microphyllus, Patersonia longifolium and Phebalium squamulosum ssp. argenteum.
Meet at the beginning of the walk, located at the end of Grattan Crescent, which is a RHS turn off from Bantry Bay Road. Plenty of parking available. Lunch afterwards at Bubala café, Grigor Place, Allambie Heights shopping centre. Parking in Grigor Place.
RSVP for the walk and lunch, or just the walk, by email directly to Penny or via apsnorthernbeaches@gmail.com.
