Coffs Harbour - walk at Coramba Nature Reserve

  • 6 Feb 2022
  • 10:00 AM
  • Orara Way

The group is delighted to invite members to travel to the Coramba Nature Reserve. The Reserve is one of the few remaining stands of lowland rainforest along the Orara River and has been listed as endangered. Thankfully, a regeneration program has protected and preserved it for visitors to enjoy. The 0.8km track takes us through to the Orara River on relatively good walking conditions.

It is always interesting to return periodically to see how the program is progressing. APS Coffs Harbour has the benefit of both Rowan McCabe and Bianca Golding, who have worked on the site, to assist members understand just what has been done and to give their assessment of results.

This will be a relaxed visit and members might consider bringing lunch and a thermos and re-establishing contacts.

Birds to See: Noisy pittas, wompoo and rose-crowned fruit doves, fig birds and rainforest pigeons.

How to get there: The Coramba Nature Reserve is approximately 2.5km north of Coramba on the Orara Way. Turn at the Recreational Grounds on the right (from Coramba), and the entrance to the walk is on the extreme right of the Grounds.
