Penny Hunstead will again lead the group's monthly walk. This is another great opportunity to benefit from Penny's expertise in identification.
This delightful walk is listed as 1.5 kms long, level and easy, with only one small rise. For about two-thirds of the walk, the vegetation is heath with Eucalyptus haemastoma the dominant tree. The last third of the walk is through Eucalyptus and Allocasuarina forest. At the end of the walk, there are panoramic views over the Hawkesbury River, up to Patonga. About half-way along the main track, there is a short side track, off to the south, where one has another panoramic view over Ku-Ring-Gai National Park.
In this month, there are plenty of the local species in flower. Collations of the species on this walk name up to fifty as Winter and Spring flowering.
Members of other APS groups welcome.
Meet at the walk entrance. Directions: After leaving the Park toll station, from McCarrs Creek Road the walk is about 9 kms distance and is the 6th walk, on the left. Parking is at the edge of the road. There is no off-street parking.
Lunch afterwards at Flower Power Café. To access it there is a turnoff bay, on Mona Vale Road. Plenty of car parking at Flower Power.
RSVP to Penny with your intention to walk, do lunch or both.
