Landscape historian Stuart Read will speak at the group's first meeting of the year.
Stuart will talk on the history of garden design using Australian native plants, including waves of fashions (it didn't just start in the 1960s), players who were influential, and examples of gardens that remain so. You might be surprised how early and how widely natives were used. Stuart is a landscape architect and heritage beurocrat, working on NSW state heritage register nominations and listings. He has long been active in the Australian Garden History Society, most recently as its co-chair, with Bronwyn Blake.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month through to November. Talks will be announced as they are confirmed.
All welcome.
