Coffs Harbour - Field Trip: Wonga Walk

  • 22 Jan 2023
  • 9:30 AM
  • Dorrigo National Park

Phil O’Shea will lead the walk of 6.6kkm, a round trip that takes about 2.5 hours. Classed as 'moderate' grade, there are some steeper sections along the walk, a few steps and some boulder crossings, but the walk can be broken up into shorter sections.

Tall, lush World Heritage listed rainforest provides a cool and shaded walking track and many waterfalls. The 600-year-old trees, elevated boardwalk, colourful fungi, vines, and interesting bird calls are just some of the sights and sounds along the way. You'll also pass the cascading beauty of Tristania Falls, and the suspension bridge at Crystal Shower Falls where you have the option to get down into a cavern and look through the veil of falling water.

See a map of the walk here.

All APS members welcome.

Arrangements - meet at 9:30 am at the Bellingen Yellow Shed or 10 am at 'the Glade picnic area' about 600 metres east (right) along the road from Dorrigo National Park visitor centre.

We will start the walk at 10:15 am. For those who don’t wish to do the whole walk there are shorter sections nearby.

Lunch back at the Glade picnic area will incorporate the group's late Xmas event.

Bring lunch, an umbrella or raincoat and a folding chair.

Ensure you RSVP to Phil 0490 072 843 or philip.oshea@bigpond.com so we know to wait for you if needed.
