Southern Tablelands - July forum: Australian insects and plants & Fire recovery in Moreton NP

  • 1 Jul 2023
  • 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • The Station Room, Goulburn Workers Club, 1 McKell Place, Goulburn

The speaker at this annual event will be Roger Farrow from Canberra.

The first part of his talk is about the relationships between Australian insects and Australian plants, and after a short break for morning tea, Roger will talk about the recovery in Moreton National Park after the devastating bushfires of 2019-20.

Roger is a professional entomologist who has studied the relationships between insects and plants in their natural environment during his career at CSIRO and since retirement. After retiring he joined the Canberra Australian Native Plant Society to further his interest in native plants, including orchids. He is especially interested in documenting the importance of native insects as pollinators.

For many years Roger has studied the sandstone flora of Moreton National Park along the Nerriga Road with members of ANPS.  After the park was entirely burnt by the 2019-2020 fires, a unique opportunity arose to examine the regeneration of the vegetation, as there was great concern that some species could have been lost.

This event is free.  All welcome.
