He and Margaret have developed Silky Oaks into a notable native garden, occasionally open to the public by arrangement through the APS.

Peter's deep interest in Australian native plants, particularly Grevilleas, has earned him wide respect and recognition, including an OAM in 2020. He co-authored three books on Grevilleas with Neil Marriott, and is also Honorary Research Associate at the National Herbarium of NSW, part of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust, Sydney.
