  Held on the last Friday of the month, Februrary  to October in the native plant section on the western side of the Arboretum, entrance from Galloway Street.
  

  Tasks include planting, mulching, weed control, watering if needed and any necessary trimming. It is essential to wear appropriate clothings for the work. Details for each month can be obtained from apsarmidale@gmail.com.

  All activities are managed by Patrick Laher, the APS Arboretum Coordinator since the late 1990s. He procures new material for planting and liaises with Armidale Council which supplies mulch and removes garden rubbish. 

  BYO morning tea for the break.

  The native gardens section was designed as part of the Bicentennial Arboretum Plan by APS member Maria Hitchcock OAM.

  Join members of the North Shore Group of the Australian Plants Society for a fascinating talk followed by a guided walk through the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden. Discover the beauty and diversity of our native flora as it comes into bloom. Walks are mostly easy to medium in difficulty, and no prior knowledge is required.

  All sessions are free, and information sheets will be provided. Please wear a hat, suitable footwear, and appropriate clothing. Bring water, a snack, and lunch for longer walks. Sunscreen and insect repellent are also recommended.

  Join the APS Central Coast Group for an enlightening presentation on mushrooms and their fascinating structures, featuring Anna Durkin as our guest speaker.
  

  Anna, a long-time Society member and passionate fungi enthusiast, first developed an interest in mushrooms as a child. Her career as a Bush Regenerator allowed her to further explore the colourful, mysterious, and intricate world of fungi. As a member of the Sydney Fungal Studies Group, she has contributed valuable insights, study notes, and stunning photographs to promote fungal research and conservation.

  In this session, Anna will deconstruct several mushrooms, explaining their structure, anatomy, and the role each part plays in fungal function and reproduction. She will also discuss the variety of mushroom species, their interactions with native plants and ecosystems, and their beneficial and detrimental effects on the environment.
